Art Historian Louisa Karapidaki notes: “Miro’s political art prompted Natassa Thomakou to organize an art exhibition in Greece under the title “La Politica della Grecia”. In this exhibition 22 contemporary Greek artists comment on various political issues, such as the financial crisis, the diplomatic negotiations, as well as people’s helplessness against the often unexpected decisions made by politicians and all the recent political developments. Furthermore, their art is used to project opinions and doubts, to illustrate different expressions of disapproval or apprehension, to look deeper into the widely acknowledged institutions, to convey the lack of trust in the accuracy of the decisions made by politicians and even renounce politics as a whole. Likewise, some of the participating artists prefer to depict emblematic political personas of the past. Eloquent illustrations, conceptual approaches and realistic images in video films compose a sensational visual entity that captivates the viewer.”
